Plato’s Closet buys and sells gently used clothes, shoes, and accessories for teens and young adults. Bring in your items for cash or shop affordable, trendy brands. Open daily, no appointment needed. Locally owned stores make sustainable shopping easy and convenient.
What types of items do you buy?
We buy gently used, trendy clothing and accessories for teens and young adults. That includes popular brands like American Eagle, Nike, Lululemon, Brandy Melville, Hollister, and more. We also take shoes, purses, and accessories. Items need to be in style (typically within the last 1–2 years), freshly laundered, and in good condition—no stains, holes, or excessive wear.
Do I need an appointment to sell?
No appointment needed! Bring your items anytime during our buying hours (Mon–Sat 10am–8pm, Sun 11am–5pm). Buys dropped off within an hour of closing will be processed the next day and must be picked up before noon for a cash offer. We’ll review your items and give you a same-day offer—wait times vary and are only estimates. Items and payment must be picked up by the end of the day; any cash not claimed will turn into store credit. You’re never required to accept an offer and are welcome to ask questions about the process.
How do you decide what to buy and how much to pay?
Our buyers look for current styles, condition, and demand. Most items are automatically priced by our computer system, with the exception of high-end shoes and designer purses which we price manually based on retail price and condition. In general, items are priced at about one-third of their original retail value, and we offer you roughly one-third of our resale price in cash. This way, you get paid instantly without the hassle of reselling yourself.
Do you only sell used clothes?
Mostly, yes—but “used” doesn’t mean worn out! We focus on gently used, trendy pieces. Many items we buy are barely worn or even still have the original tags. You’ll often find brand-new condition pieces at a fraction of retail.
What happens if you don’t buy some of my items?
Anything we can’t take is returned to you right after your buy along with the container you brought them in. We do not accept donations and cannot dispose of your items for you. Always feel free to ask questions about any items we passed on.
Pro tip: the better condition and the trendier the style, the higher the chance we’ll accept it!
