Summer Style and Packing Tips

It’s officially summer! After finishing a long academic year, I am so excited for a summer full of rest and travel.
I experienced a colder-than-normal spring this year, but summer has hit with a bang! This is useful as I begin packing for summer trips and weekend getaways. I’m choosing to pack lighter clothing so I can fit more items into my luggage. Here are some of my favorite packing essentials and go-to outfit templates that make up my vacation wardrobe!
For starters, a bag is essential! It is so important to have a place to carry things that won’t fit in your pockets, such as sunscreen and hand sanitizer. Plus, a cute bag can level up your outfit. I am a fan of small shoulder bags, but with long days of walking and traveling, sometimes it gets inconvenient and you are unable to pack necessities. I love this bag because it fits everything I need to while looking also chic! I added this cute cherry charm for an extra personal touch!
I love vacationing near water. A great beach or pool can be so relaxing on hot summer days. If a beach day is on your itinerary, a comfortable bathing suit is important to pack, but a cover-up is just as essential! I learned from personal experience that jean shorts become uncomfortable to put back on after a long day in the water, so aiming to wear comfortable, flowy clothing is what makes these days best. I love finding dresses or rompers that can be worn as a full outfit before or after swimming. Cover-ups with holes for breathability are also a great option. There are a variety of great options at Plato’s Closet to fit all beach styles!
Lastly, a comfortable pair of shoes is the most necessary piece of any vacation outfit! Investing in a pair of tennis shoes that match many outfits is important for trips that involve a lot of walking. I am all about looking good for the pictures, but the blisters and foot aches after a long day of wearing uncomfortable shoes are brutal! I found these comfortable and cute tennis shoes at my local Plato’s Closet! A pair of shoes like this will make the long days much easier and your feet will thank you the next day.
Well-planned outfits can make or break a vacation. Make sure to think about accessories and comfort next time you travel to maximize the fun of a vacation! I’m wishing you all safe and exciting trips this summer. Happy packing!
