Seamlessly Transition to Summer In Style

Posted by Ember Sierra on May 16th 2022

At first glance, spring and summer fashion share many staple pieces. Skirts, crop tops and bright colors are all common themes. However, as the weather gets warm, you might find yourself swapping out some of your spring pieces for more light, flowy and comfortable options to account for the summer heat. Today, I am sharing some essential pieces that you can add to your closet to make a seamless transition from spring to summer.

Try replacing your denim jackets with some sheer cover-ups as we move towards summer! I got this bright floral one from a local thrift store, and they are super easy to find at other resale stores like Plato’s Closet. I paired this pink floral-print cover-up with a brown bralette and white denim skirt for a simple yet colorful look. Cover-ups like this are super versatile, as they can be paired with jeans and a simple shirt or tied in the front to create a more-unique silhouette.

Along with summer comes swimsuit season and the perfect opportunity to bring your swimwear into your main wardrobe. Bandeau-style swim tops, such as the one I'm wearing above, can easily be layered with a linen cover-up and some jeans for a casual beach-ready look!

Linen is another must-have fabric for summer — it is so light and breathable, not to mention super stylish and comfy! These are my go-to pair of linen pants. Real linen can be a bit expensive, so often try shopping secondhand, so check out your local Plato’s Closet for some real affordable linen-like these pants!

My black combat boots are always a staple in my closet, but I am excited to bring out my strappy sandals as summer approaches! These super-simple black sandals are a summer essential — so versatile and cute! Try pairing them with jeans and a simple matching top or your favorite sundress, and see what you like better!

I hope these outfits gave you some ideas on transitioning your wardrobe from spring to summer effortlessly while staying fashionable!
