Festival Fashion 101

The sun is out, so here comes the outdoor activities! Whether you're heading to a local community concert or a major event, music festivals are the perfect opportunity to have fun with your style and snap some cute photos! From wearing shorts to flowy clothing or getting out of your comfort zone, I’m here to share some tips!

Festivals are a great way to step out of your comfort zone and explore different outfits without judgment! Everyone is dressed in their most fun, unique looks and enjoying a great time together as a community. I love adding sparkles and glitter to my hair and makeup, and experimenting with different hairstyles—especially with my natural curls. For Coachella a few years back, I applied temporary white tattoos on my body, added some sequins near my eyes, and sprinkled glitter on my half-up, half-down hairstyle.

I put together one of my most fun looks with a long skirt for a calm, zen vibe, but I also love the look of a bikini top paired with shorts! Quick tip: boots are super cute for festivals, but keep in mind they might not be the most comfortable for long walks—so plan accordingly! 

Plato’s Closet has a great variety of pieces and styles that are perfect for outdoor festivals! I grabbed a pair of shorts that I already had in my closet and styled it with a men’s shirt I found sustainably in the men’s section. Festivals can get pricey, so it’s a great idea to repurpose what you already own or pick up some gently loved, one-of-a-kind, and sustainable clothing!

For a more comfortable vibe, I love styling a pair of flowy pants with a small knitted top. I found two separate pieces and paired them to create a set that kept me cool and covered all day long. Adding sneakers makes this my favorite outfit to wrap up a long weekend festival—comfy, yet still cute!
